Financial Aid Options May Cover All or Part of Your Training Tuition
ENROLLMENT PROCESS
- Speak with Enrollment Officer to discuss financial aid options
- Complete FAFSA
- Request Financial Aid Office to calculate your Pell Grants and/or
Direct Loan eligibility
- Complete all contract, loan applications and other necessary forms.
- Letter of intent from agency funding sources
Enrollment is complete when approved payment contract is complete and includes one or more of the following:
1. Letter of intent from agency funding sources
- WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)
- Veterans Administration
- TAA (Trade Adjustment Assistance)
- BVR (Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation)
- Pell Grant
2. Loan agreement
3. Prepayment of entire program cost

GRANTS & LOANS
FEDERAL PELL AND FSEOG GRANTS
Federal educational grants are based on financial need and for those who qualify. Application is free. Complete a Federal Application For Student Aid(FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or in the Adult Education Office. Pell Grants will NOT pay for the total program cost, and are only available for 600-900 hour programs. For assistance completing the FAFSA see our Application Tips.
DIRECT LOANS
Federal Direct Loans are NOT credit-based. They are based on your school enrollment. You WILL be required to re-pay this loan, however, your repayment will not begin until six months after completion. Interest rates range between 5% and 6.8%. Average payments are $50-$100 per month for 10 years.
TAA (Trade Adjustment Act)
Training is for those displaced by foreign trade who worked for approved companies. Contact the OhioMeansJobs county office at:

WIOA
WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funds are for those who are unemployed, underemployed, without marketable skills or skills related to declining industry. Contact any county's OhioMeansJobs office for funding options (please plan six weeks prior to program start date for this process).

Required to obtain a Pell Grant of Direct Loan
Obtain help completing your FAFSA at:

Step 1
Apply for a FSA ID (prior to appointment) at
https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
*It can take up to three days to get your FSA ID
Step 2
Complete your form at: www.fafsa.ed.gov
(this is a free application)
- School Year: SY2024-2025
- Tax Year: 2022 (use the IRS data retrieval
tool to prevent additional paperwork from
the IRS; worksheets can be printed from
website) W-2s and 2022 IRS tax forms are required to complete the FAFSA form

Step 3
Contact the ACWHCC Financial Aid Officer to schedule an appointment to have your Pell Grant calculated and receive your Financial Aid offer.
DIRECT LOANS
- Sign in at www.studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing using your FSA user ID when you applied for the FAFSA.
- Complete Entrance Counseling
- Complete the Master Promissory Note for Subsidized/Unsubsidized loans.
Note: You will be required to give names and phone number of two people not living with you.

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS
Bring the following documents when you meet with our Financial Aid Officer:
- Social Security Card
- FSA ID and password
- Photo ID, State ID, Drivers License or Passport
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- FAFSA Application (For Federal Pell Grant)
- Most recent W-2 Forms
- Most recent Federal Income Tax Forms
- Most recent Unemployment Statement, which includes your total benefits (for persons receiving unemployment benefits)
