On Friday, October 4th, ten Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center Early Childhood Education students participated in Ohio’s first statewide Health and Human Services Signing Day, making the commitment to complete Child Development Associate (CDA) training this academic year. The professional development training helps students complete the requirements for the nationally recognized CDA credential, a pathway to career advancement in various early childhood education settings.
Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center students who signed CDA training letters of intent include:
Kerrine Brezavscek, Ashland High School
Keaton Christian, Ashland High School
Rain Coffman, Ashland High School
Araiya Daniels, Ashland High School
Meghan DeVore, Mapleton High School
Lindsey Lundell, Ashland High School
Chloe McFrederick, Ashland High School
Nevaeh Nussbaum, West Holmes High School
Ava Romesberg, Mapleton High School
Madison Underwood, Ashland High School
CDA training prepares students to become qualified early education teachers for children ages birth through five years. It ensures they graduate high school job-ready with the skills and competencies that early childhood employers want. High school students enrolled in the CDA training program complete 120 hours of child development education coursework covering eight content areas. They may also earn college credits toward higher education degrees.
Highly trained and certified teachers are in high demand in communities throughout Ohio. An individual with a CDA is qualified for numerous career opportunities, including teacher’s aide, assistant teacher, lead teacher, floating teacher, substitute teacher, and administrator roles in an infant, toddler, or preschool program.
Health and Human Services Signing Day is made possible by the Career Compass for Health and Human Services.
