6th Grade Students Participate in Gloves & Goggles

On Tuesday and Thursday this week, (Sept. 26 and Sept. 28) 6th grade students from Ashland, Loudonville and Mapleton participated in our Gloves & Goggles event. These student-lead tours and demonstrations provide a snap-shot of our 14 Career-Technical Education programs available as part of their career exploration.

At the conclusion of the visits, 322 students completed a brief survey answering their interest level with the response options as ‘yes’, ‘sort of’ and ‘nope’ to the following questions:

I learned something new about the Career Center.
Results: 266 students responded ‘yes’; 50 responded ‘sort of’; 6 responded ‘nope’

I learned something new about myself and what I might like to do.
Results: 207 students responded ‘yes’; 102 responded ‘sort of’; 13 responded ‘nope’

I would consider attending the Career Center.
Results: 235 students responded ‘yes’; 81 responded ‘sort of’; 6 responded ‘nope’

I can see myself having one of the careers I heard about today in my future.
Results: 227 students responded ‘yes’; 82 responded ‘sort of’; 13 responded ‘nope’

This event offers an overview or broad scope of the programs offered. A narrower focus of the programs begin in 8th grade when they get to choose the four programs they would like to have additional hands-on experience in.
